One of the newest developments in the area of SCSI hard drives is the Ultra 2 SCSI (LVD- low voltage differential) interface which can achieve up to 40MB/s with a bus width of 8 bit (max. 80MB/s with 16 bit bus width).
Hard-drives such as Viking II or Atlas III from Quantum, which support these interfaces, have a new 80 pole connection and can only be used with the use of an adapter in an already available SCSI II or SCSI III chain.
